Iran Reviews U.S. Proposal but Shows No Interest in Negotiating an End to the Conflict
Iran is currently reviewing a proposal from the United States to end the war in the Gulf. However, Tehran has made it clear that it does not intend to engage in direct talks to resolve the escalating conflict in the Middle East. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that while there is openness to negotiating an end to the war if Iran’s demands are met, the exchange of messages through intermediaries should not be interpreted as direct negotiations with the U.S. He added that the ideas conveyed have been forwarded to the highest authorities, who will announce their position if necessary.
Trump Appoints Meta, Oracle, and Nvidia Leaders to U.S. AI Policy Advisory Board
Donald Trump is planning to appoint several prominent figures from the technology industry to join an advisory council tasked with shaping policies on artificial intelligence (AI) and other strategic issues. The White House announced on Wednesday that Mark Zuckerberg, Executive Chairman of Oracle Larry Ellison, and Jensen Huang will be part of the council. In addition, the administration has named 13 initial members from across the industry, including Sergey Brin and Lisa Su. Several companies, including Alphabet, Nvidia, and Oracle, have yet to issue official responses regarding these appointments.
Trump Set for Beijing Summit with Xi in May, to Discuss Trade and Fallout from Iran Conflict
Donald Trump is planning a visit to China on May 14–15, 2026, where he is expected to meet with Xi Jinping. The trip had previously been delayed due to the ongoing conflict involving Iran. The rescheduled visit reflects Trump’s effort to project control amid rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, while also maintaining relations with China, which have been increasingly strained. Initially set for an earlier date, the visit was postponed due to the Iran war. Trump stated that preparations are now underway and expressed hope that the meeting will serve as a significant moment for both nations. He also plans to invite Xi for a return visit to Washington later this year.
